Counselling

Education and counselling starts as the patients admit for radiotherapy after cancer diagnosis. Patients who are planned to be treated in related units discuss with the consultant nurses before starting treatment . Consultant nursing service was started in 1988 in cooperation with the Psychiatry Consultation - Liyazon Unit. Currently, consultant nursing service is provided by the staff of Ege University Center for Cancer Management and Research. Information on disease adaptation, treatment conditions, side effects of treatment, hygiene and nutrition are provided. 

In addition, psychological problems of patients and their families during the treatment period are observed and psychiatry assistance is provided if necessary. Individual interviews initiated with treatment, conferences, booklets and open support groups for patients and their relatives are used to support the treatment period.
