WORKFLOW

 

1- Cancer cases who have been diagnosed at Ege University Medical Faculty according to the International Disease Classification (ICD-O) and registered in the Hospital Information Management System (HIMS) or available in Pathology Laboratory Registry are derived as ICD-10 diagnostic coded lists. (Brain and central neural system malignant and benign cases, malign-insitu, etc.)

 

2- In the Cancer Registration Center, these data are collected, processed and reported to the Provincial Health Directorate by the health personnel (doctor, nurse and medical secretary).

 

3 - Collected data are cross-checked with existing records of the center and duplicate records are eliminated. New cancer cases are coded according to the ICD-O classification.

 

4- These data are classified according to the SEER Summary Stage developed by the US National Cancer Institute(NCI), Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results Program (SEER) and also TNM classification of Malignant Tumors developed by Union for International Cancer Control's (UICC) . These records are carried out mainly on the basic rules of Cancer Registration and the rules of The Middle East Cancer Consortium (MECC).

 

5- New cases are enumerated into Canreg-5 program.

 

6- Weekly cases are sent to Izmir Provincial Health Directorate as electronic files.
